Whether you are a beginner or a professional crack master, sometimes knowing when to stop drilling to get a good bullseye can be hard to gauge.

To the left here is an image of trying to tap a bullseye, but as mentioned can be very difficult to gauge.

Well, here is an an easy way to make your own drilling guide and handle for your bullseye tapping needle for less than a penny! Electrical tape wrapped around the needle for accurate depth every time.

The outerlite of the windshield is 2 millimeters thick. You want to drill half way through, 1 millimeter deep. 1.5 millimeters at the most.

To make your guide you want to cut about a two inch piece of electrical tape and fold it around your needle at 1 millimeter or 1.5 millimeters from the tip with a new needle.

Just before you are ready to tap, place the needle in the hole, when you see that the tape is at or near the glass you are ready to tap your bullseye. At 1.5 millimeters you will never go too deep.

For an added bonus it doubles as a handle to hold the needle. (See photo to the the right) If you use red electrical tape it will help you locate your needle or find it when you may have misplaced it or dropped it while working. Our new needles will now come with red electrical tape at 1.5 millimeters.
