In 1990 the windshield repair and the windshield replacement industries were separate industries that hated each other. First Look At ROLAGS and Why It's The Most Powerful Institution

The Repair of Laminated Auto Glass Standard (ROLAGS) is the most powerful institution in the Auto Glass Industry. It defines what to repair and when to replace. The ROLAGS repairable crack length is 14 inches. The ROLAGS at 14-inches is the Repair Industry’s biggest weapon against replacement businesses replacing repairable windshields by false and misleading statements and advertising about windshield crack repair.


In the United States the replacement industry’s business model, led by Safelite is the definition of Deceptive Trade Practices – they lie and deceive the customer to unjustly enrich themselves, ripping off the customer and putting their safety at risk. They sell windshields by lying to the consumer about windshield crack repair length, specifically cracks over six inches long or the size of a dollar bill, which eliminates 90% of the crack repair market and cuts a Repair Only Business’s income by more than 50%.

GlasWeld’s president in 2008 colluded with others on the committee after accepting a bribe from Safelite and Belron to have the GlasWeld President lead and spear headed a motion to exclude cracks over six-inches from the ROLAGS. Safelite's bribe was they would steer jobs to GlasWeld Technicians, which is illegal to do with insurance claims.


The GlasWeld President approached the other members of the committee telling them we could stall with another standard until the Ultra Bond patents expired and convinced them to vote cracks over six inches out of the standard.


The purpose and scope of the ROLAGS is to define what to repair and when to replace. This six-inch limitation would cost the REPAIR Industry over $700 million per year. It would allow Safelite, Belron and other replacement businesses to deceive hundreds of millions of consumers out of billions of dollars. 

This attempt violated the Antitrust Policy of the American National Standards Institute and Antitrust Laws of the United States. It was fought off and defeated by Ultra Bond President Richard Campfield.
