Ultra Bond Proven Safety Record...

In 1990 the windshield repair and the windshield replacement industries were separate industries that hated each other. This is when Ultra Bond entered the national market as a business opportunity with a revolutionary industry changing windshield crack repair kit with a long crack windshield repair method that could eliminated over 80% of windshield replacements. This new method passed the same federal standard as a new windshield and was as strong as new laminated glass. The windshield repair industry exploded with growth. Delta Kits B150 Repair Bridge

Ultra Bond engineered this windshield crack repair bridge to flex the windshield and eliminate tension on the windshield and hence the break; which is the #1 threat to successfully repairing chips and long cracks up to 14 inches long.  We give you flex control, mechanical advantage and leverage when you are repairing chips and long cracks. The flex plus the vacuum given during a chip repair enables you to wick and wet your resin to the glass and thus ensuring a maximum chemical bond upon polymerization.

Delta Kits B150 and B-250 Windshield Repair Tool is for stone-breaks and or chips only. This tool structure puts tension to the glass near the break by the suction cup causing the user to manually flex legs with a probe.  Delta trains and recommends water thin resins for a chip repair which  compensate for the tool. Water thin resins cannot withstand stress as well as thicker resin.  With Ultra Bond you do not have to use a probe to flex legs and you can inject thicker, stronger structural adhesive resin(s) ensuring a strong bond that can withstand stress. This tool can only repair chips whereas Ultra Bond's windshield repair tool can repair chips and long crack.

The Prelude...

The windshield repair industry has had the technology to eliminate the windshield replacement industry since 1990. Some would like to say that this is the Vehicle Glass Repair and Replacement Industry, but the truth is it is Windshield Repair versus Windshield Replacement. Windshield Replacements are sold in the United States (led by Safelite who is 100 times larger than the second largest competitor) by lying about windshield crack repair which costs the repair industry over $700 million per year and consumers over 2 billion per year. What has Delta Kits or Glas Weld done for its own customers about that? NOTHING. It is Ultra Bond who fights their customer’s battles and wars. See the Ultra Bond v Safelite Lawsuit. 


Each time the repair industry has been poised to wipe out replacements, the big players attacked the repair industry. The only one to fight them has been Richard Campfield of Ultra Bond. The three times that the efficacy of repair was attacked it has been Richard Campfield of Ultra Bond with science and data to prove it to be safe and viable and fought off the bullies. 

First Attack 1993 On The Windshield Repair Industry

In 1990 the windshield repair and the windshield replacement industries were separate industries that hated each other. At this time unlike the replacement industry the 18-year-old windshield repair industry was unorganized. It had no means of communication, no national association and no windshield repair guidelines or standards. So it was vulnerable from attack by the huge, organized multibillion dollar auto glass industry. Within a year of this attack Ultra Bond founder Richard Campfield started and published the industry’s first form of communication, Windshield Repair Magazine; Initiated the founding of the National Windshield Repair Association and met with the heads of the DMVs and wrote The United States Windshield Repair Guidelines. While all of the others, including Delta Kits, GlasWeld, Liquid Resins, Glass Mechanix, Novus etcetera, did nothing. The National Glass Association’s Windshield Repair Standard was never able to be ratified by the NGA committee. 


In 2003 the first Windshield Repair vs Windshield Replacement Antitrust Federal Lawsuit was filed on behalf of the Windshield Repair Industry for boycotting long crack repair and to stop the damages to the Repair Industry. This lawsuit was filed by Ultra Bond and Richard Campfield against State Farm and Lynx Services from Pittsburgh Plate Glass (PPG).  Here again it is not GlasWeld or Delta Kits that is fighting for the windshield repair business, it is Ultra Bond fighting the bullies.  See Campfield v State Farm complaint here. 


Second Attack In 2005...

Cullen v. State Farm. This lawsuit was a class action challenging the efficacy of windshield repair. This consumer class action plead that windshield repair did not restore a windshield to pre-loss condition and that State Farm owed all of their insureds that had a windshield repair claim a new windshield. This action would have been devastating to the windshield repair industry as this would be the excuse the replacement industry was waiting for to eliminate windshield repair from the market place.  State Farm needed to prove to the court  that windshield repair was as strong as a new windshield. State Farm did not use Delta Kits for this, nor did they use GlasWeld, Novus, Glass Mechanix, or Liquid Resins. State Farm used a study of Ultra Bond windshield repair resin and repairs to prove to a Supreme Court that windshield repair was as strong as a new windshield. State Farm won and the efficacy of windshield repair was proven and preserved.


In 2007 after two years of deliberation the Windshield Repair and the Windshield Replacement industry developed an ANSI Approved Standard for windshield repair including when to repair and when to replace windshields. This was to put to rest the ridiculous six-inch, size of dollar bill criterion. The ROLAGS is the most powerful institution in the Auto Glass Repair Industry with a 14-inch long crack repair limitation.


The National Glass Association and the National Windshield Repair Association were the ones to develop this windshield repair standard. The Repair of Laminated Auto Glass Standard (ROLAGS) is the most powerful institution in the windshield repair industry because it would turn a presently upside-down industry, right side up. Meaning it would put a stop to the false and misleading information about windshield crack repair that is used to sell billions of dollars’ worth of replacements per year by advertising that a crack longer than a dollar bill or six inches is not repairable. 

Third Attack - October 2008 In Collusion with GlasWeld and Safelite, Delta Kits Attempts to Throw Windshield Crack Repair Technicians Under The Bus

After the American National Standards Institute approved the Repair of Laminated Auto Glass Standard (ROLAGS) in 2007, Safelite and Belron did the math and determined that the ROLAGS at 14-inches would cost them hundreds of millions of dollars per year, so they went on a self-described attack on the ROLAGS and Long Crack Repair. (See Ultra Bond v Safelite Motion for Summary Judgement).  


Part of that attack was to change the standard to six-inches. In collusion with Safelite, Belron and Glas Weld, Delta Kits voted in October of 2008 to take away over $700 million per year from the windshield repair industry by reducing the crack length from 14-inches to six inches –  hurting their own repair only customers. Richard Campfield / Ultra Bond again fought off this attack on the windshield crack repair industry led by Safelite, Belron and Glas Weld.  


In 2015 Ultra Bond and its founder Richard Campfield filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of the windshield repair industry against Safelite for false and misleading advertising about windshield crack repair. See Ultra Bond  vs Safelite Complaint. Here again it is Ultra Bond, not Delta Kits or GlasWeld that is fighting the war for their own customers and technicians. Theses companies do not deserve any windshield repair technicians' long crack repair business.
